The Patient Account team handles approximately 6800 patient calls per month. This entails reviewing the account, researching medical records, ensuring the coding is correct and educating the patient on their insurance benefits. They are also responsible for processing all incoming patient payments and any refunds due to the patient. The Accounts Receivable Call Center Clerk position is needed to provide staffing for the incoming patient calls to continue providing the best customer service experience and to get current on the outstanding credits in the Business Office. Primary Responsibilities: Each representative handles between 80 and 100+ calls per day Post payments: between 150 and 200 patient mail-in payments per day Responsible for posting credit card payments by phone for patients Responsible for researching invoices for outstanding refunds needed to be processed Responsible for reviewing, researching and processing outstanding credits by apply the credit to the correct invoice Preparing refund request while applicable Keeping patient accounts up to date Adhere to Optum compliance guidelines going forward. This position will help us meet our goals on a continuous basis Follow-up monthly on established payment plans for our members Call patients on their outstanding balances for information needed by insurance or to set-up financial arrangements Other responsibilities include assisting walk-in patients, processing bankruptcies, processing the deceased patient file, reporting all payments made on balances sent to an outside collection agency, processing the report from the collection agency on all payments made to the agency on outstanding self-pay accounts

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: High school education or equivalent experience Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding 2 years of medical billing experience in a high volume, multi-specialty setting Call Center / High Volume Call experience Customer Service experience Requires little assistance with standard and non-standard requests Careers with Optum.
