The Business Loan Center - Commercial Underwriting Officer II in the Business Banking Credit Center (B2C2) is responsible for underwriting requests for all Business Banking loan products for exposures up to $3,000,000 in all footprint states with loan decisions made within assigned lending authority.

The Business Loan Center - Commercial Underwriting Officer II will possess excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills. The Underwriter in this position will be able to exhibit the ability to multi-task with a high degree of accuracy, and meet established deadlines. The Underwriter exhibits a basic knowledge of commercial lending regulations.

Position Responsibilities:
*Evaluate all loan requests that require financial analysis using a thorough knowledge of Comerica Business Loan Center Credit Policy, guidelines and procedures.
*Finalize risk rating and provides credit decision for credits within a stated limit based on Credit Policy.
*Assess the risks inherent in each client industry and suggests appropriate financing vehicles.
*Exhibit the ability to utilize objective underwriting tools, calculate basic key financial ratios and apply subjective criteria to render decisions.
*Ability to identify and mitigate policy exception and guideline variances.
*Accurately review financial statements and tax returns submitted by applicants and evaluate their ability to repay.
*Seek alternative means of financing or counter offers for all borrowers when it is determined original request cannot be granted.

Travel is not required of this position.

*Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
*Successful completion of a formal credit training program
*4 years of experience underwriting consumer, small business, or commercial lending requests, including relationship management experience
*Demonstrated knowledge of credit scoring and risk management concepts
