Challenge yourself, your peers and our industry by shaping what health care looks like and doing your life's best work.(sm)        The Director, Digital Strategy is a seasoned business strategist who is ready to take ownership of development and execution of the digital strategy for a sizable healthcare business. He/she will join a large P&L responsible for Population Health Solutions at Optum and provide thought leadership, strategic direction, market analysis, and project oversight to guide the development of digital capabilities that meet market needs and engage our patients.   The Director, Digital Strategy will partner with leadership in products, technology, sales, and channels to frame the market, identify market opportunities, build analytics-based plans, drive actionable decisions, and ensure successful execution. In order to do this, the Director, Digital Strategy will have a strong understanding of competitive dynamics, customer and patient needs, regulatory impacts, market trajectory, and Optum capabilities. In addition, the Director, Digital Strategy will “tell the story” throughout the organization to gain support for the digital initiatives in Population Health Solutions. Finally, he/she will be responsible for ensuring the strategic case and prioritization is reflected in the execution by overseeing and driving prioritization of digital capabilities and the roadmap for deployment.Primary Responsibilities: Drive digital health strategy development that is aligned with and enables broader strategy for Population Health Solutions Lead cross-functional strategic projects and develop implementations plans, incl. business plan development, product conceptualization, and strategic planning Drive partnership development with other organizations Solve unique and complex problems requiring integrated solutions with broad impact on the business Analyze industry trends, customer needs, competitive threats, expansion opportunities and internal performance Deliver data-driven insights on customer and patient needs to drive digital capability development that addresses key pain points in the care journey Develop economic rationale, business cases, and capital requirement estimates for digital health solutions and succinctly frame up options sets to executive leadership Lead in a matrixed environment to ensure buy-in and support from key stakeholders Develop presentations and articulate the digital health story for internal and external audiences Serve as proxy for VP & Sr. Director; must be able to step into senior level meetings to represent the digital roadmap Should be able to support budget planning, SG&A to ensure digital initiatives/subscriptions are being properly accounted for Gather feedback from applicable internal stakeholders on their business goals and objectives Gather feedback from end users on their needs related to health care solutions Participate in ideation activities to identify and address short- and long-terms needs of the business and target audiences Ensure that digital solutions have measurable goals and objectives for use in evaluating their effectiveness Ensure that digital solutions address applicable business needs (e.g., driving members online, reducing call center volume, driving enrollment, providing needed information and education) Identify and implement appropriate enhancements to digital solutions based on applicable information (e.g., market feedback, call center feedback, research/analysis of applicable data, usability results, site performance)


Required Qualifications: MBA from a top-tier program, or demonstrable equivalent Minimum 2+ years post-MBA experience at a leading strategy consulting firm or equivalent experience Subject matter expertise in either healthcare or digital capabilities Demonstrable leadership skills in a team setting where team members are not direct reports Superior conceptual, analytical and financial modeling skills, with ability to succinctly interpret data and strategic frameworks for executives Experience developing market overviews, understanding competitive positioning, analyzing market trends, and understanding customer needs Demonstrable ability to deliver results with large-scale, cross-functional teams Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery Superior communication (written/verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills High energy, detail oriented and creative individual Ability to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing demands Demonstrated financial acuity and proven ability to work effectively with finance teams to secure funding in support of identified strategic goals and objectives Strong problem solving skills that enable quick identification and efficient resolution of issues Direct to consumer experience preferred with broad knowledge of user experience principles and digital channel best practices   Careers with Optum.
