Be a part of the Pharmacy world providing perfect service to members in a growing Pharmacy environment.


Humana/CarePlus is seeking experienced pharmacy technicians or individuals with a background in healthcare for full time career opportunities. The Pharmacy Specialist contributes to the success of Humanas business strategy by collecting and entering broad based information required for timely and accurate processing of prior authorizations for prescription for our members.


As a Specialist, you will:

Process Prior Authorizations via inbound calls to Humana/CarePlus departments

Interact with Physician's offices, Members, Long Term Care Facilities and Hospitals

Facilitate the Perfect Experience for Members and Providers

Facilitate positive service and pharmaceutical outcomes 

Role Essentials

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to work with multiple programs at the same time.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some nights. Rotating Saturday schedule (currently 9am to 1pm). Daily rotating shifts with 5pm, 6pm and 8pm end times.
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solving.
  • Self-directed, but also able to work well in a group.
  • A positive, proactive attitude, energetic, highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Work ethic that is focused, accurate and highly productive.
  • Must be a critical thinker: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Role Desirables

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician with minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting
  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to a Frontline Leader.

Assessment Information


Any Humana associate who speaks with a member in a language other than English must take a language proficiency assessment, provided by an outside vendor, to ensure competency. Applicants will be required to take the Interagency Language Rating (ILR) test as provided by the Federal Government.


Interview Format

As part of our hiring process for this opportunity, we will be using an exciting interviewing technology called Montage Voice to enhance our hiring and decision-making ability. Montage Voice allows us to quickly connect and gain valuable information from you pertaining to your relevant skills and experience at a time that is best for your schedule.


If you are selected for a first round interview, you will receive an email correspondence (please be sure to check your spam or junk folders often to ensure communication isnt missed) inviting you to participate in a Montage Voice interview. In this interview, you will listen to a set of interview questions over your phone and you will provide recorded responses to each question. You should anticipate this interview to take about 15 to 30 minutes. Your recorded interview will be reviewed and you will subsequently be informed if you will be moving forward to next round of interviews.
