Short Term Disability Claim Analyst

Lake Mary, FL

(this position is not remote eligible)

 

Start Date: March 5, 2017

 

This is considered an entry-level position, requiring guidance and training.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages assigned caseload of disability claims for short- term disability
  • May manage long duration claims requiring annual recertification
  • Under close supervision, inputs claimant medical and demographic data Evaluates claimant eligibility; Develops plan to address disability obstacles and plans with claimants, attending physician and employer
  • Monitors medical condition of claimant, discusses return to work with employer Integrates individual rehab/return to work plans into ongoing medical treatment Monitors social security decisions and other disability income benefits
  • Decides payment period, follows up and monitors payment accuracy and timeliness
  • Follows plan to closure.
  • Typically reports to a Supervisor in a Disability Claims Operation

Qualifications

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • Passion to provide superior customer service required
  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task required
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal required
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications preferred
  • Proficient ability managing daily call volume (average 30)
  • Call Center/Contact Center experience is a plus.
  • Strong ability to navigate multiple computer screens and software required
  • One year experience as service representative or successful completion of training program strongly preferred
  • Prior business/office experience a plus.
  • Strong math aptitude preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred Associate's degree also considered.
  • Ability to work full time 40 hours per week plus overtime required

Training Requirements: As a condition of employment you will be required to successfully complete a multi-week New Hire Training Course and upon completion obtain a passing score on the final course assessment. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon you successfully passing the exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the New Hire Training. Training may also include up to 3 weeks of travel to another Hartford location in the U.S.  100% attendance is required during training. You should have no schedule conflicts during training.
