Enterprise Application Developer (Hybrid)

The Enterprise Application Developer is responsible for design, development, coding, customization, configuration, testing, and deployment in support of Enterprise packaged solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of Enterprise third-party tools and products, as well as internally-built software products and capabilities. This is a team-oriented technical role that will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle and work collaboratively to implement solutions with other business applications and units. The official NJM job title is Product Developer.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with the ability to work up to 3 days per week remote.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Learn multiple Enterprise packaged software solutions/products from third-party vendors. Maintains up to date installation and usage documentation for Enterprise packaged solutions.
  • Understand and work from software requirements. Translate requirements into technical designs that leverage Enterprise packaged software functionality (e.g. out-of-the-box capabilities) to address business functional needs. Provide accurate, timely estimates for project tasks, activities, and deliverables.
  • Perform application analysis, configure solutions, and code efficient and reusable programs or products, in accordance with NJM standards and procedures related to the use of Enterprise packaged solutions.
  • Perform standardized Developer Quality Assurance practices, taking advantage of available testing tools and procedures to ensure that high quality test results are achieved.
  • Support production applications and troubleshoot issues/defects.
  • Participate in formal code review sessions, proof of concepts, and technology evaluations.
  • Participate in determining testing approaches, test planning and defect analysis.
  • Collaborate with Technical Leads and Project Coordinators to facilitate the development of optimal technical solutions.
  • Work with technical leads to resolve complex technical issues and understand system performance associated with the introduction of new functionalities.
  • Stay abreast of new and current technologies and trends, i.e. Cloud, IOT, DevOps, etc.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in software or product development
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the IT industry developing or maintaining business applications/solutions with a focus on P&C Insurance.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with software development life cycle which includes design of solutions using sound architecture concepts, configuration/coding of applications, writing and execution of use cases and test plans, and the delivery of software solutions.
  • Strong understanding of technology and applications development in a Microsoft environment (IIS, ASP.NET, AJAX, XML, Web Services, C#, XSLT, XPath, SQL Server, document workflow, Team Foundation Server, and Visual Studio.)
  • Experience in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Customer Communications Management (CCM), and/or Document Archiving and Imaging, and their corresponding software implementations (e.g. OnBase, Kofax, Quadient Inspire, etc.), is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and to multitask, handling multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Strong communication, analytical, design and problem solving skills.
