The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company's risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.

The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.

The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo's risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.

The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.

We are seeking a Principal Strategy Consultant to join our Enterprise Operations Transformation team. This leader will be responsible for leading strategic cross-functional initiatives focused on transforming end-to-end processes, modernizing the operating environment across people, process, technology and risk dimensions to deliver on strategic agenda. This role sits within the enterprise transformation office and will be responsible for supporting translation of ideas into actions with accelerated delivery timelines while enabling action orientation, connectedness, speed and agility across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities for the Principal Strategy Consultant include:
  • Lead key program and or initiatives portfolio efforts across Operations in partnership with LOB owners, Technology and risk and program management team
  • Lead ideation, design, and implementation through collaboration and co-creation
  • Act as the thought partner/leader to Ops Initiative Owners/ Accountable Executives
  • Develop target state roadmaps outlining business outcomes, resource needs, dependencies and execution timelines
  • Drive the overall pace of change, assessing progress against clearly laid plans, and identifying interdependencies between workstreams, and implications for the operating model
  • Set strategic direction for the workstreams/initiatives and severe as a credible challenger to ensure the objective, scope, approach and plans align to the overall mandate and targets
  • Work collaboratively with other team members both within and outside the program team to connect dots and resolves issues as they are discovered
  • Have the ability to navigate left-right (across topics) and up-down (strategy/details)
  • Lead through influence, often without direct authority, persuading through use of data and facts
  • Develop executive level presentation, executive summaries and steering committee decks. Effectively deliver the key message around the project updates/risks to business and senior leaders.
  • Adjust and adapt to the rolling, day-to-day changes that transpire in the running of large Programs/ initiatives


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 4+ years of experience with business transformation and change strategy execution


Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years broad experience in transformation/change roles including a successful track record of delivering large complex tech enabled enterprise-wide transformation programs
  • Top-tier consulting and/or change management experience in financial services organizations requiring a combination of strategic vision, and practical project management and execution skills
  • Strong intellectual capital paired with equally strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation/PPT and data analysis skills including the ability to organize, conceptually interpret and clearly communicate via the input of multiple parties
  • Self-starter with role up of your sleeves and get the job done mindset and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a degree of ambiguity.
  • Track record assessing quickly and getting up to speed and adding immediate value to new situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with evidence of working in collaboration across large organizations, including a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communication and with ability to reach consensus with diverse stakeholders
  • Matrix leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire without authority
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to piece together disparate functions and lines of businesses
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
